Weekly Update 🎉: Web App Progress, Growth Help, and a Quick Break

TL;DR

  • Stepping back is paying off. The team is making progress fixing deep structural issues.
  • The web app is now in active development and is essential for desktop users, future browser tools, and sharing experiences.
  • Launch is still on hold. Frontend fixes should wrap up soon, then backend bugs and testing are next.
  • I'm officially hiring a part-time social media producer. If you know anyone in NYC who fits, send them my way.
  • I’ve been focused on fundraising prep. The pitch and model are coming together.
  • Skipping next week’s update to recharge post-holiday. Updates pick back up mid-July.

Hi Everyone,

This week has been another one of getting the house in order. We’re continuing to make meaningful progress on all fronts, not just on the product itself but also on the systems and strategy that will help bring Nabb to life in the months ahead.

Development Update

Taking a step back last week was the right move. The team has been fully focused on resolving underlying structural issues that will allow us to tackle the remaining bugs more effectively. That pause also gave them time to begin work on a key piece of the platform: the web app.

Why the web app matters:

  • User Access: From early prototype data, we saw that 10–20% of users prefer using Nabb from their desktop. A web version ensures they can access their account wherever they work.
  • Browser Extension Foundation: One of our first post-launch features will be a browser extension that lets users save content with a single click. That experience depends on a seamless web-based infrastructure.
  • Sharing Experience: The web app enables smart link sharing with embedded metadata, cleaner previews, and a more connected experience. This is a critical part of our product-led growth strategy.

That said, we’re still weeks away from launch. The goal is to finish frontend fixes next week, then shift focus to backend issues. After that, we’ll run two weeks of user testing: one for freeform exploration and one for feedback and final polish before launch.

Growth Update

To be honest, my momentum on the growth front has taken a hit. While I’m still excited to get the app into people’s hands, it’s tough to keep pushing content that centers around delays.

I’ve realized content production isn’t my strong suit, and that’s okay. I’m great at getting things from 0 to 1, and then bringing in the right people to take it from there. That time has come with the Instagram account.

So I’m excited to share that I’m officially starting the search for a part-time social media producer to help take @patbuildsanapp to the next level. I put together this job description, but broadly I’m looking for someone who knows how to make viral content and can:

  • Write scripts
  • Plan shots
  • Help with filming
  • Edit and publish videos

I’ll still be involved creatively, but it’s time to bring in a pro. If you know someone in NYC who might be a fit, I’d love an intro.

Vision Update

Stepping back from day-to-day product work gave me the space to focus on the long game: fundraising prep. I’ve spent the last two weeks deep in pitch deck and financial model land.

Nabb has evolved into a much bigger vision than I initially imagined. Bringing it to life will require capital to grow the team, scale user acquisition, and keep evolving the product.

We’ll still need a few months of user data post-launch before kicking off a raise, but I’m glad to be getting ahead of the logistics now so we’re ready when the time comes.

Focus for This Week (and Next)

  • Continue giving the team space to get the product to a better place before I dive back in
  • Keep refining the pitch deck and financial model
  • Start conversations with potential social media candidates

Looking Ahead

The goal remains the same: launch Nabb, prove user value, and use that momentum to raise and grow. Spending more time on the pitch and model has only reinforced how excited I am for what’s ahead. A full-time team, faster iteration cycles, and a product people truly love.

The last few weeks haven’t gone as planned. But but that’s the nature of building something from scratch. I’m staying grounded in the belief that this is a mission worth pursuing. Progress might feel slow, but sometimes slowing down is what leads to the best outcomes.

With that in mind, I’ll be skipping next week’s update to spend time with family after the long weekend and give myself a bit of breathing room. Expect the next update in mid-July, with lots more to share.

Thanks, as always, for your continued support.

See you in two weeks!
Pat
