Weekly Update 🎉: The Hard Part of Building

TL;DR

  • The team hit some structural issues that caused a cycle of reactive fixes
  • I’ve stepped back from daily check-ins to let the team focus on rebuilding key functionality
  • Leadership is now directly managing the project to help close key gaps
  • The first version of the investor deck is in progress
  • Still optimistic for a summer launch, even if later than hoped

Hi everyone,

Running a bit behind on this week’s update, so let’s jump right in.

Development Update

This past stretch has been bumpy. We’ve been pushing hard to get the app across the finish line, but a mix of structural missteps and an overextended pace created a kind of whack-a-mole workflow. We were fixing individual issues as they popped up instead of stepping back to solve the deeper problems underneath.

I’ll own part of that. It’s my first time in a true product management role, and I’ve realized that my tendency to jump in with lots of ideas (sometimes all at once) hasn’t always helped the team focus. I’ve learned a lot in the last few weeks, and I’m working to be more intentional in how I support the process.

The good news is that the team is re-centering. We’ve brought in leadership to guide the final phase of the build more directly, and everyone is focused on making the right fixes, not just fast ones. There’s a renewed sense of alignment that I think is going to make a big difference in the coming weeks.

Growth Update

We’re still pushing toward our 300-person waitlist goal, with Instagram continuing to be our main channel. Content has slowed a bit with development delays, but we’re keeping things moving steadily ahead of launch.

This Week’s Focus

I’ve stepped back from the day-to-day product check-ins to give the team room to focus and rebuild key parts of the app’s structure. The goal this week is to lay a stronger foundation so that when we do ship, it’s something consistent and dependable.

In parallel, I’ve started drafting the first version of our investor pitch deck. I’m leaving space in it for real-world results post-launch, but I’m focused now on tightening the message so the problem, solution, and vision all land clearly.

Looking Ahead

Progress hasn’t been linear, and we’re not where I hoped we’d be by now. I thought we’d be a few weeks into launch at this point, but building something new, with a small team and tight resources, is never simple.

That said, I still believe we’re close. I’m hopeful we’ll be live before August, but to be safe, I’ll say before the end of summer. Either way, I’m showing up daily to push this forward.

In a few months, this stretch will just be a chapter in the journey. I’m staying focused on what we’re building and motivated by the idea that Nabb is going to change the way that people use the internet. We are building something significant.

More soon,
Pat
