Weekly Update 🎉: Kicking Off Cofounder Trial Run & Building What’s Next for Nabb

TL;DR

  • Two cofounder trial runs (product + engineering) starting this month
  • 5k+ saves processed so far confirms real user demand for a better save button
  • Next phase: prove users don’t just want to save, but want to act on what they save
  • Building a new headless version of Nabb to test reengagement and transactions

Hi everyone,

Another great week! We’re making real progress on the team front and have a clear goal for the next few weeks.

Team Update

This has been my main focus recently. After more than 50 conversations networking and with potential cofounders, I’ve reached the most exciting part of the journey: I’ll be doing a trial run with two people, one focused on product experience/management and one on engineering.

Cofounding a company is a major commitment, and I want to make sure we all get real reps working together before formally committing. Over the next month, we’ll treat this as if we’re all in, collaborating daily and checking in honestly on how it feels to build together. The goal is to build conviction in each other and the product while seeing what we can accomplish as a team.

We’ll be focusing on launching a headless version of Nabb, which will test a lighter onboarding flow and some new reengagement tactics. It’s a meaningful project to rally around, something that lets us take an idea from concept to launch together. I’m genuinely excited to see what we’re able to create as a team.

Development Update

As a quick recap, the current Nabb MVP is an evolution of the prototype I built nearly a year ago. Since then, countless user tests and learnings have led us to focus on one clear mission: becoming the better save button for social media. That focus allows us to optimize the experience around saving from Instagram and TikTok, while also laying the groundwork for turning Nabb into a transaction engine for social content.

So far, we’ve seen nearly 5,000 saves processed through the prototype and MVP, validating that people genuinely want a better place to save social media posts. The challenge, though, is that we’ve essentially built a better “junk drawer”, people save a lot, but don’t always come back to engage with those saves consistently.

This next phase is all about proving that users don’t just want to save, but also to act. We’re testing whether more engagement leads to more transactions, and whether we can make reengagement feel natural and rewarding.

The new headless version of Nabb will allow users to interact with Nabb without leaving Instagram, a scrappy but effective way to test new features quickly before baking them into the main app. I’m hoping to have something to share in just a few weeks.

Growth Update

Users continue to save new posts every day, even with almost no new features or marketing, which is incredibly encouraging.

On the @patbuildsanapp front, we’re still experimenting with content formats and storylines. It’s been a slow build, but we’re finding our rhythm and refining what works. Every like, comment, and share genuinely helps, so thank you for the ongoing support.

This Week’s Focus

  • Kick off our first full week working as a team on the test product
  • Design and scope the experience in person
  • Continue experimenting with content to find consistent formats
  • Keep networking for future hires, while core roles are covered, I’m staying proactive about who might join down the line

Looking Ahead

The last few weeks have been a grind, but we’ve turned a corner. For the first time in a while, I feel real momentum, a clear focus, an energized team, and a near-term product goal that sets us up for the next phase.

We’re building toward something that not only works but matters, and I’m excited to share what’s coming next.
