Weekly Update 🎉: Growing Pains That Make Us Stronger

Weekly Update 🎉: Growing Pains That Make Us Stronger

TLDR

  • Hit 100 signups (capped due to a technical limit)
  • Migrating to a proper production environment and preparing for App Store release
  • Engagement remains strong with 72% active savers and 870 saves so far
  • New messaging around responsible AI resonated strongly on social channels
  • Began conversations with potential team members for UX and technical leadership
  • Focus this week: fix signup bug, resume onboarding, tackle bug backlog, refine pitch deck

Hi Everyone,

Each week seems to bring another big milestone, and that feels like a great sign of the phase we’re in. It’s been exciting to see new users join and saves keep flowing in. We did run into a snag this week with signups, but it revealed a bigger issue with how our development and production environments were set up. Fixing it will leave us in a much stronger position moving forward.

Bugs and Fixes

Early last week we discovered our signup flow was still tied to a development environment capped at 100 signups. We hit that limit much faster than expected, so instead of phasing out the old setup gradually, we had to move quickly.

We’re now creating a proper split with a development environment purely for building and testing, and a production environment where all users and saves will live. We’re in the process of migrating accounts and data, so if you notice your saves temporarily missing, don’t worry. Everything is safe on the backend while we reroute things.

This change will also allow us to release Nabb on the App Store (with invite codes) instead of through TestFlight. We’re still in private testing, but removing users from TestFlight is an important step toward separating testing from everyday use. For now, keep using TestFlight normally and I’ll let you know as soon as the App Store version is live.

Because this issue took all our focus, we weren’t able to address other bugs from last week’s update, but they remain top of the list once signups are resolved.

User Growth and Engagement

We officially hit 100 users, though the signup cap kept us from adding more. Engagement has been strong:

  • Signups: 100
  • Active savers: 72 (72% of signups)
  • Multi-day savers: 38 (38% of signups, 53% of active users)
  • Lists created: 133
  • Total saves: 870

This shows that not only did we reach our signup goal faster than expected, but users are staying engaged with saves continuing to climb.

On the distribution side, @patbuildsanapp is experimenting with new messaging. One recent video tested the idea of using AI responsibly, positioning Nabb as a tool that helps you save something once, use AI once, and then access it forever without relying on AI every time. The message resonated with our strongest early engagement signals yet. It’s clear there’s a thread worth pulling on here.

Hiring and Team Planning

This week I’ve also started conversations with people who might join the Nabb team. After nearly a year of building solo, it’s clear I need support.

The UX needs thoughtful design now that we’ve gathered feedback, and we’ll need a technical partner alongside our dev team to accelerate product iteration and boost investor confidence. These chats have been energizing and I can see how much more we’ll accomplish once we have the right team in place.

This Week’s Focus

  • Finish fixing the signup bug and restart onboarding
  • Address the backlog of surfaced bugs
  • Keep building the pitch deck and speaking with advisors on fundraising timing
  • Analyze evolving usage patterns as we approach 1,000 saves

Looking Ahead

The past few weeks have been a whirlwind of highs and lows, but every day I get more confident we’re solving a real problem and uncovering a big economic opportunity. The priority right now is simple: fix bugs, grow users, and gather data to validate we are onto something important.

Thanks for riding along, more updates soon.
