Weekly Update 🎉: Finalizing UX, Scaling Growth

Another week down, and things are really starting to come together! We’re continuing to refine the user experience while also testing new strategies to grow the @patbuildsanapp following.
Development Updates
Development is in full swing as we build out core app functionality. This week, we’ve been focused on:
- Homepage Optimization: Refining the purpose and function of the homepage to ensure seamless search within Matchbox.
- Lists & Sharing: Enhancing how lists work and how they can be shared with other users.
- Backend Development: As we shift more focus to the backend, we’re investing heavily in data pipelines to ensure the system runs smoothly and scales effectively.
Growth & Marketing
We’re actively testing a few different growth strategies:
- Instagram: We hit 500 followers! This has been a mix of tapping into my existing network and early-stage growth hacking strategies. Now, we’re working on a more scalable approach to push toward 1,000 followers by the end of the month.
- LinkedIn: We’ve started repurposing Instagram updates for LinkedIn, and engagement has been strong. While we’re not focused on follower growth here, it’s a great way to keep my broader network aware of Matchbox ahead of our May launch.
- Organic Growth Channels:
- Brand Ambassador Program: We’re launching a small Brand Ambassador test campaign in NYC to explore grassroots growth strategies that could scale for app downloads this summer.
- NYU Feature: We were featured in NYU’s Berkley Center for Entrepreneurship’s weekly newsletter, which brought in some exciting inbound interest for the ambassador program.

This Week’s Focus
- Finalizing UX Design: We’re locking in the final UX details with our dev shop so we can shift full focus to backend development.
- Brand Ambassador Interviews: We’re kicking off interviews with our first few potential ambassadors with a goal of launching this effort by the end of the month.
- Content Experimentation: We’re testing different content strategies across Instagram, TikTok, and LinkedIn to see what resonates best.

Things are starting to feel very real as we get closer to finalizing UX design and bringing Matchbox to life. There’s still plenty of work ahead, but I’m incredibly grateful for all the support so far.
