TL;DR
- Improving onboarding to reduce drop-off and make first content submission seamless.
- Enhancing related content recommendations to enrich user experience.
- Refining home screen UX to surface key info with fewer clicks.
- Social media growth on track – nearing 500 followers, aiming for 1,000 by the end of March.
- Exploring LinkedIn as an additional content channel for non-Instagram users.
Happy Tuesday,
Another week filled with development progress and engagement growth!
Development Updates
We’ve been refining the user experience in three key areas:
- Onboarding Flow:
We’ve noticed a 25% drop-off between sign-up and first content submission due to a clunky onboarding experience. Our focus is on making the first content submission as seamless as possible, ensuring every user experiences the power of Matchbox from their very first session. - Related Content as Data Enrichment:
We’re exploring the best way to suggest related content based on a user’s original submission. This feature has huge potential, so we’re balancing how it will function in the MVP versus its long-term vision. - Home Screen Experience:
We're fine-tuning what appears above the fold on the home screen, aiming to surface exactly what users need with minimal clicks. Before pushing any updates live, we plan to gather user feedback to validate our approach.
Growth/Content Updates
Our social media presence (@patbuildsanapp) continues to grow!
- We’re on track to hit 500 followers by 3/15 (maybe even sooner).
- The next milestone: 1,000 followers by the end of March.
- Last week’s LinkedIn post boosted engagement, but we also heard from potential followers who don’t use Instagram but still want updates. We’re exploring how to incorporate LinkedIn in a thoughtful way.
- As always, every like, share, and comment helps increase our reach—thank you for the support!
The goal remains the same: build a strong early adopter community before launch in May.
This Week’s Focus
- Development: Align on the vision for the Home Screen, finalize what needs to appear above the fold, and begin building the data infrastructure to handle content from various sources.
- Growth: Continue testing new content formats to maximize engagement. Begin planning a college ambassador program to drive app downloads across multiple campuses by the end of the summer.
Looking Ahead
With each week of development, the long-term vision for Matchbox becomes clearer. If we successfully create a centralized place for people to save and recall everything important—both digitally and physically—we’ll position ourselves to expand into many other use cases currently spread across multiple platforms.
But first, we remain laser-focused on the core mission: building the world’s first Recall Engine and delivering the best possible user experience. If we solve this problem well, the sky is the limit.
More to come!
