This week’s update will mainly focus on a Peek Behind the Curtain, as there are no major product updates or bug fixes to report. As we progress toward the next chapter of Matchbox, we’ve paused product iterations until this new phase begins.
Peek Behind the Curtain
We're diving deep into analyzing the breakdown of use cases for all submissions since 1/1 (after the product expanded beyond restaurants).

Key Insights:
- Cumulative Growth: Submissions have shown consistent growth across most categories, with restaurants (25.8%) and experiences (22.3%) leading the pack. However, the restaurant category may be over-indexed due to the app’s original focus, biasing the existing user base.
- Diversification: Submissions for other categories—such as recipes, events, and everything else—are steadily increasing, indicating users are adopting the broader content-saving features over time.
- Sustained Interest: Both restaurant and experience use cases continue to drive high submission rates, reflecting strong engagement with familiar, practical content.
To better understand submissions in the "Ideas" and "Everything Else" categories—due to their broad and ambiguous nature— we broke them down into their subcategories:

- The Information subcategory leads with 122 submissions, indicating strong user interest in saving knowledge-based content. If "Information" were its own category, it would rank as the third largest, making up 14% of all submissions since 1/1. However, some overlap likely exists, as "Information" often serves as a catch-all when the true purpose of the content is difficult to categorize.
- Other notable subcategories include Entertainment (31), Exercise (22), and Business (21).
With 874 total submissions across all categories since 1/1, the product's current experience is best optimized for restaurants and experiences. Improving the user experience for categories like ideas and products could help drive further engagement and growth.
