TL;DR
- Divelopment officially kicked off! First two-week sprint is underway, focusing on UX improvements and backend infrastructure.

Hello Everybody!
Hope you all had a great long weekend. It’s been a big few days as we kicked off development with the team and started publicly sharing the journey of building Matchbox ahead of the next version launching in May.
Development Update
We officially started our first two-week sprint with the dev team, focusing on organization and aligning on our UX goals for the next version of Matchbox. Many of you have been incredibly helpful in offering feedback, and we’ve selected our first subgroup for user interviews.
These initial interviews will focus on three types of users:
- Power users – those who use Matchbox regularly.
- Lapsed users – those who engaged but eventually dropped off.
- Users of alternative solutions – those who rely on other tools.
Our goal is to deeply understand what drives engagement and where we need to improve to make Matchbox a must-have tool. These insights will shape the UX updates we’ll be designing in the coming weeks.
On the backend, we also started mapping out our data pipelines—detailing how submissions are processed, structured, and turned into matches in your Matchbox. This is a core part of the rebuild, as the way we store and organize your content is critical to the overall experience.
Growth & Content
To get more people aware of Matchbox, I’ve started publicly documenting this journey—from an idea in my apartment to a real product. I launched an Instagram account where I’ll be sharing updates on the evolution of this project.

Feel free to follow along and share with friends! The goal is to build a small community of engaged early adopters before launch.
This Week’s Focus
📌 User Interviews: We’re kicking off conversations with our first group of users, gathering insights on what works, what doesn’t, and what would make Matchbox an essential tool in their daily lives.
🎨 Design Process Begins: Based on the insights from interviews, we’ll start sketching out UX improvements. This includes refining the core flows, improving how users interact with saved content, and ensuring new users can get started effortlessly.
🔧 Data Pipeline Planning: We’re breaking down the full lifecycle of a submission—how content moves from the moment it’s sent in to when it appears as a match. This will help us optimize speed, accuracy, and future scalability.
📢 Content Production for Growth: I’m working on a batch of social media posts to share over the next few weeks, giving people a peek behind the scenes of building Matchbox. The goal is to start growing an engaged audience ahead of launch.
Looking Ahead
This process has been incredibly energizing. It’s no longer just me working on this from my apartment—there’s now a team focused on bringing Matchbox to life. We’re building something bigger than just an app; we’re creating the world’s first Recall Engine to help people organize and use the internet in a new way.
I’m more motivated than ever to deliver something that’s not just functional—but transformative.
As always, thanks for your support and excitement.
Thanks!
