I hope you all had a restful and relaxing end to 2024 and are easing back into things after the holiday season. It’s been another exciting week in Matchbox land as we focused on breaking through new content platforms for submissions and adding some visual features you’ve been asking for.

I’ve also been preparing for the next batch of beta users. Based on your feedback, I’ve created a walkthrough video to show new users how to use the app. Since the interface has changed quite a bit since most of you joined, I’m sharing this video with you as well—it’s a quick refresher on all the ways Matchbox can make your life easier. I plan to include these walkthroughs with future major updates to keep you in the loop on how to best use Matchbox!

How to use Matchbox

Product Updates (12/30 - 1/6)

  1. Image Preview: Matchbox now collects image snapshots of your content (when possible) so you can preview an image before switching apps. Perfect for quick refreshers without needing to open the full content.
  2. Map Profile Preview: Quickly preview matches directly from the map—no need to toggle between the map and individual profiles.
  3. New Content Platforms: Matchbox now supports submissions from additional platforms, including:
    • Spotify
    • Apple News
    • X.com
    • Pinterest
  4. Refined Image Submissions: You can now send photos and screenshots (e.g., from Reddit) with improved success rates.

Focus Areas for This Week

  • Historical Image Previews: Now that preview images are available for new submissions, I’ll be working on retroactively adding previews for older submissions. This will take time but is in progress.
  • Beta Expansion:
    • A total of 72 invites will be sent by tonight.
      • 39 Signed Up Users since 12/2 
      • 25 net new invites this week.
      • Goal: Hit 100 sign-ups by the end of January! If you know anyone who might want to join the beta, please send them my way!

Looking Ahead

We’re pushing into high gear this month as we decide if Matchbox is ready for the next stage of investment. Your feedback and participation have been invaluable, and I’m incredibly grateful for all of you helping refine this idea.

Here’s to kicking off 2025 with a strong start—I’m excited to see where the rest of this month takes us!
