Weekly Update 🎉: The Power of 30 Days

Weekly Update 🎉: The Power of 30 Days

TL;DR:

  • Bug Fixes: Home Screen buttons & Match Profile features now working.
  • Power User Insights: Engagement ramps up after 30 days, with users submitting in bursts.
  • This Week's Focus: Facebook integration & backend prep for the next phase.
  • Big Picture: Matchbox is solving a real problem—better UX should drive even more engagement!

Hello Testers,

Another week, another update! As we shift focus to planning the next phase of Matchbox, product updates are more about fixing bugs than adding new features. Please let me know if anything isn’t working! I don’t always catch issues unless you report them, so your feedback is crucial.

Product Updates & Bug Fixes (1/20 - 1/27)

  • Home Screen Buttons Fixed: All Use Case buttons should now work properly.
  • Match Profile Fixes: Resolved issues with Notes, Rating, and Been/Bought/Done features.

Peek Behind the Curtain

This week, we analyzed our top 10 Power Users (excluding bulk uploads) who have been active in the last 30 days (excluding myself). See the graphs below for their cumulative submissions over their lifetime as a Matchbox user:

Power User Demographics: 6 Women and 4 Men with an average age of 37 living in Major Cities (NYC, Toronto, San Diego, Miami, Austin) and Secondary Cities/Suburbs.

Key Insights:

  • One outlier (dark gray line) has submitted nearly 160 matches in 55 days, with increasing frequency.
  • Zooming in shows that Most power users follow the same pattern of accelerating submissions around Day 30, suggesting Matchbox takes time to become part of their routine.
  • Most users don’t submit daily but in bursts, with growing volume per session.
  • Newer power users (purple lines) show early behaviors similar to other Power Users, meaning we may be able to predict future high-engagement users.
  • No clear demographic/geographic trends yet, likely due to small sample size.

Conclusions:
The outlier’s behavior pattern isn’t unique—just at a higher volume. Understanding their motivation could help us find more users like them.

  • Habit formation takes about a month, after which engagement accelerates.
  • Early data suggests we may be able to predict power users before they reach Day 30.
  • A better product experience could drive even more engagement.

Looking forward to diving deeper into Use Case & Content Type trends in future updates!

This Week’s Focus

  • Improving Facebook integration: The variety of content types (posts, business pages, marketplace, etc.) makes this a challenge.
  • Laying the foundation for Matchbox’s next phase: Mostly backend work, but an important step toward growth.

Looking Forward

These data insights reinforce my confidence that we’re onto something with Matchbox. We’re clearly addressing a real problem, and I believe a better product experience will unlock even greater engagement. We’re getting close to kicking off the next chapter of Matchbox’s development, and I’ll be working this week to piece everything together to make that happen.

I’m continue to be incredibly grateful for your support and the amount of time you are investing into helping make Matchbox something real.

Exciting updates ahead—stay tuned!

Thanks!
