Weekly Update 🎉: Steady and Scaling

TL;DR
- Instagram API integration now live, improving match accuracy.
- Over 2,000 total user submissions so far, with steady growth in engagement.
- Continued work on resolving Facebook content issues and planning next-phase improvements.
Happy Tuesday Testers,
Hope you all had a great long weekend! This week has been a little more focused on the next phase of Matchbox, so there are fewer product updates than usual.
I’ve received a lot of positive feedback from many of you regarding these weekly updates. To keep them valuable and engaging, I’ll start including insights into major metrics and future planning updates when product changes are lighter. The primary focus will remain on new product releases and UX improvements, but I’ll also share interesting data trends we’re seeing.
1/13 - 1/20 Product Updates
- Instagram 3rd Party API: Matchbox is now integrated with a third-party Instagram API, enabling us to collect tagged accounts (not just names in captions). This significantly increases the likelihood of finding the right match on the first try.
A Peek Behind the Scenes
As the first look behind the curtain, I wanted to share some insights into overall user submissions.
- Total Submissions: Over 2,000 matches from 45 users since inception, with ~50% coming from bulk uploads (existing user notes, Google Sheets, Google Maps, Notion pages, etc).
- Clean Data: Excluding bulk uploads of over 50 matches and my personal matchbox, we have 888 matches submitted through regular processes from all of you to analyze.
- Steady Growth:
- Weekly submissions dipped over the holidays but rebounded, reaching a peak of 174 last week.
- Weekly average daily submitters doubled from 4 (start of beta) to 8 last week, with daily submissions per user remaining steady at 3.
Key Takeaways:
- Engagement is growing steadily, driven by both new and returning users.
- Active users consistently submit multiple pieces of content in a single day, reflecting higher usage when Matchbox is more top of mind.
- Both a growing user base and increased activity from existing users contribute to rising daily engagement.
Next "Peek Behind the Scenes", I’ll share insights into our “Power Users” and how their engagement trends are accelerating growth!
This Week's Focus
- Troubleshooting Facebook content issues: This source is proving to be inconsistent, and I’m working on improving the match quality.
- Planning for the next phase: I’m evaluating resourcing needs to address glitches and improve Matchbox’s overall frontend and backend experience. I know the current limitations can be frustrating, but exciting updates are on the way—thank you for your patience!
Looking Ahead
Your growing engagement validates the belief that Matchbox solves a real problem. Scaling this to the next level will take time, but I’m confident we’re on the right path. Thank you for being part of this journey and helping me turn Matchbox into something impactful.
Wishing you all a great week ahead!
