Weekly Update 🎉: Nearly 100 Signups. We’re Rolling!

TL;DR
- Broader testing is live with almost 100 signups. Check the TestFlight email titled “Nabb has invited you to test Nabb” if you are still waiting to sign up.
- Shipped: Create lists without a save
- Priorities: Pasted-link failures, map pins, shared-list maps, duplicate saves, save speed, copyable text.
- Patterns: Products, Restaurants, Articles and Experiences are the leading categories with Instagram and TikTok as the top sources users are sending from.
- Next up: Keep inviting testers and posting to grow the sample, and start casual team chats ahead of a fall fundraise.
Hi Everyone
Big week. I put out the call and you answered. We had nearly 100 people sign up in the first few days of broader testing, and more than half already submitted a first save.
If you are still waiting for your invite, you should have an email from TestFlight titled “Nabb has invited you to test Nabb” in your inbox (check Spam just incase). That message has everything you need to get started.
We’ll dive into the numbers below, but the short update: we’re off to a faster start than expected, and I’m excited to see how this shapes up.
Going forward, I’m shifting the format of the updates sections to match this live testing phase. You’ll see these sections each week:
- Bugs and Fixes
- New Feature Releases
- User Growth and Engagement
- User Patterns and Trends
Bugs and Fixes
Shipped
- List creation without a save: Fixed! You can now create a list without having to add a save.
Need to fix
- In-app link submission failures: Direct shares from apps like Google Maps work, but copied and pasted links can fail. We believe we have the root cause and will work on the fix this week.
- Pins on maps inaccurate: We parse the correct address, but the pin can land in the wrong spot, which breaks directions from the map. Root cause under investigation.
- Map view not working in shared lists: You can see pins in your own list, but when the list is shared, the creator cannot see those pins on the map. Investigating.
- Save time feels slow: There is noticeable latency. Some of it is on our side and some comes from external platforms. We’re exploring UX improvements now, with more on this below in “Feeling stuck.”
- Duplicate saves: Some users see the same save appear multiple times. We’re adding clearer submission states to give confidence that a save was sent, and we’re adding backend backstops to block rapid duplicate processing.
- Make text copyable: In progress.
Nice to fix
- Create a new list while saving: Requested by many of you. On the roadmap for the coming weeks.
- Feeling stuck after a save: You can leave the screen, but the UI makes it feel like you should wait. We’ll add better in-app messaging now and a cleaner post-save visual soon.
- Onboarding flow: Lots of feedback that it does not teach what to save or show the full power of Nabb. This is mission critical, but we want to do it right. Expect a larger overhaul that rolls out later.
Beyond specific bugs, we’re collecting broader UX notes. Some of you prefer living on Lists or your Profile instead of Home, and many want the look and feel to change. We’re gathering all of this and designing a refreshed experience over the next few months.
New Feature Releases
Nothing major to announce this week while we focus on stability and fixes. Expect this section to start filling in as the bug backlog clears.
User Growth and Engagement
We exceeded several metrics in two weeks with Nabb that previously took us two months with Matchbox. The original goal was 100 signups by the end of August. We’re on pace to beat that by a wide margin.
Here is where we are at:
- Signups: 91
- Active savers: 57 (63% of signups)
- Multi-day savers: 27 (30% of signups, 47% of active users)
- Total lists created: 103
- Total saves: 532
On @patbuildsanapp, we are in full swing increasing our content frequency. We filmed 4 hours of footage this week and now have a deep library to cut into posts over the next few weeks. The goal is a steady drumbeat across Instagram and TikTok, with selective LinkedIn cross-posts, to keep growing the test group while we ship fixes.
User Patterns and Trends
This week’s category mix shows broad usage. Products leads at 20%, followed by Restaurants at 13%, Articles at 12%, and Experiences at 10%. The remaining 45% is a healthy long tail across recipes, ideas, events, instructions, and more, which tells us people are saving a wide range of things beyond a single use case.
Total Saves by Category

On sources, Instagram accounts for 22% and TikTok for 10%, while the majority of saves come from across the open web and other apps. The long tail here suggests our share-from-anywhere model is working, and it’s worth continuing to polish the social and browser flows.
Total Save by Source

We’ll go deeper here in future weeks as the dataset grows.
This week’s focus
- Invite and onboard as many testers as possible to reach a statistically significant sample size. That will help us draw clear conclusions about usage, prioritize improvements, and guide the next version of the product.
- Keep shipping content to grow the test group from engaged followers.
- Start casual conversations across a range of disciplines to shape an early team view as we prepare for a more formal fundraise this fall.
Looking ahead
The last six months have led to this moment where real people are using the app. I’ll admit it is a little nerve-racking to put something imperfect in front of so many people, but this is how we learn what to fix and what to improve. Nabb is no longer an idea in a vacuum. It is a real product that real people use every day, and I’m excited to see how it evolves.
Thank you for sticking with me. Please keep the feedback coming. We’re building this together and I cannot do it without you.
